A rooftop swimming pool is set within a sunny terrace from which one can appreciate the charm of this, one of Europe's largest and best preserved city centres. Lively, too: the opera, theatre, cinemas and a casino are all a short walk from the front door. In fact, this hotel is full of surprises, the most noticeable of which is the happy blend of ancient and modern; exposed beams and polished, old floors contrast with eye-catching fabrics and 20th century works of art. The rooms have enormous character yet provide every modern convenience to make the guest feel comfortable and very much at home.
